Dear Readers,
Wow ! It’s hard to believe we’ve come so far so fast – this is our 25th issue of La Encajera. Congratulations to all of you who have remained loyal La Encajera readers and now can boast of your 25 issue collection.
From time to time we’ve had requests to publish patterns, designs and photos for laces especially for babies. So it’s with you in mind, dear reader, that we decided to dedicate this entire issue to exactly what you have been asking for – laces for the baby. And being our 25th issue anniversary we are celebrating it by publishing 25 different baby accessory related patterns!
As always we don’t miss a beat so it’s no coincidence but especially timely that this issue about babies comes to you just as we have discovered that the Princess of Asturias, Dona Letizia is carrying her first child and heir to the Spanish throne !
On pages 4 & 5 check out a wonderful 3 piece set consisting of baby booties, bonnet and bib, that could be just perfect for a christening.
You can make the 6 piece set of toy trucks on page 12 to decorate a little boy’s or even a girl’s room.
Feel like creating something more practical? How about making the booties with the pretty butterfly and matching lace edging on page 21 - or maybe the intricate booties with the beads on page 29?
For the little sailor in your life you might want to make the bib with the sailboat. or you can create the delicately made lace stork birth announcement or the rocking horse and little girl.
Among the laces published in this issue not all were contest entries. But from those that were entries, the first prize was given to a
young girl, Sara Llobregat. She receives a free subscription to La Encajera.
Second Prize went to M. Amelia Serrano – a basket of threads.
Third Prize went to Frauke Lorenz, a lace making book.
So come celebrate with us and don’t forget to participate in our celebration contest!
