Letter to the readers



Dear lace maker friends,

We are now up to 24 issues of La Encajera magazine. All this is thanks to each and every one of you who faithfully read our magazine, issue after issue and re- new your subscriptions. There are also many stores that offer our magazine to their customers. To all of you whether you are in Spain or in any other country in the world, thank you for your continued support.

This issue is loaded with an assortment of various laces. On pages 4 and 5 there’s a quite unique type of lace edging and handkerchief that incorporates large open spaces into its design.

There are two very special flowers made with both bobbin lace and Battenberg lace techniques on pages 8 and 9.

As for lace jewellery you can actually wear, we have a knotted lace necklace and a beautiful trillium flower broche. They are accompanied by very detailed, step-by-step instructions. See these on pages 12 and 13.

We have many great photos of OIDFA’s last congress in Prague this past July to make you feel like you were there!!

And to keep you busy there are two more handkerchiefs, a bookmark that uses different coloured threads, coasters with and without guipur leaves, a beautiful peace dove with rainbow titled ‘Hope for peace’, a shawl, and so much more for you to enjoy!

Take a look on page 21 and see Virgen del Pilar, from the city of Zaragoza made in lace with a lace frame.

And guess what, we have a new lace contest ! It’s called Celebrations!!! Make anything that has to do with a wedding, a communion, a party, etc. See the details on page 27 and get working on your entry!

And last but certainly far from least is the 2 page spread we have dedicated to that beloved Catalan Artist, Salvador Dali. All of Spain celebrated his 100th birthday this year and so do we, right here in La Encajera – don’t miss this!!!!
